The LBD. A classic wardrobe staple. Worn to work, worn to play. The little black dress is the star of Jane L Rosen’s book – The Dress. But it’s one LBD in particular. A Max Hammer dress that became the dress of the season at fashion week and it seems everyone want’s a piece of it.

A clever tale of 9 different women and 9 different stories, all relating back to the LBD in question. Fans of Confessions of a Shopaholic and The Devil Wears Prada will love this…

WHAT WE LOVED

‘Legend has it that every season there is one dress. The dress to utterly transform your life.’ I loved this. And I related to it. Every girl, every man has probably got something in their wardrobe that makes them feel nostalgic, that brings back happy memories of good times or perhaps sad times. And sometimes one outfit really can transform your life. Perhaps it was the outfit you wore to a dream job interview or a first date.

Throughout ‘The Dress’, the Max Hammer LBD changed the lives of many, from the private investigator to the model who first introduced it to the world on the runway. I loved the different perspectives of one dress and how relatable it was. A real chick-lit – great for a holiday or girly weekend.

WHAT WE ALMOST LOVED

As much as I loved the different perspectives in the book, I found there to be too many stories. I think 4 or 5 stories would have been just that tad easier to follow than 9 BUT it did make me think this would make a GREAT movie. It’s about time we had another chick-flick blockbuster about the world of fashion with a sprinkling of scandal isn’t it?
